Agriculture Department

Agriculture is delivered to the senior school year 11 to year 12. The subject meets the needs of NCEA at all levels but is also geared to allow the students to gain first their level 2 and then their level 3 National Certificate in Agriculture ( quite vocationally orientated). To that end it has a blend of achievement and unit standards, theory and practical.

Year 11.

Here the focus is on pastures and soils. The

Primary industry is studied and its impact on

the environment. They look at safe chemical

handling and basic farm skills.

Year12

The focus here is more on animal production and more depth study of soils. There is a practical camp and practicals in chainsaws.
