Special Assessment Conditions

Students with permanent or long-term physical/medical conditions or with learning difficulties which significantly impair performance, may be eligible for special examination conditions.  These can range from extra time, to reader/writer assistance, modifications to booklets etc.  Rules for eligibility have tightened significantly from previous years.  To be eligible, a student must have been tested within the past 2 years by an independent registered assessor eg registered educational psychologist or have NZCER Level C qualification.  The school will require documentary evidence of such testing and recommendations before pursuing any application. The student must also have been receiving, within the school, the same level of assistance that is being applied for.

Applications must be made through the school prior to 31st July although it is extremely important that this addressed from the start of the year.  If you have specific queries please contact Chris Knopp (NZQA Principal’s Nominee) on 467 6630.

Learner Login

All students who are entering for examinations in 2010 should register on the NZQA site so that they can check their own entries, check results for internal standards, obtain admission slips, request a Record of Learning, receive their final exam results online etc.

Records of Achievement

Learners are entitled to one free copy of their ROA, if they have gained some credits in the previous year.

To request the annual free copy of the ROA, learners need to make a request by logging on through the online Learner Login area or by calling the NZQA Call Centre on   04 463 3000. This facility is available from 1 February to 30 June each year.

Year 13 students will automatically receive one at the end of their schooling, however, many of these students require them for applications to university hostels so should request their free one via the learner login prior to June.

Withdrawal from Assessment

Students who select a course of study at the start of a year are expected to enter for all assessments normally associated with that course.  Withdrawal will only be at the discretion of HOD’s and may require parental approval.
