Technology at John McGlashan College
With our multipurpose workshop students get to design and create solutions to problems in a whole variety of materials, including metals, wood and plastics. We’ve got metal lathes, wood lathes, milling machines, welders, a furnace, bending machines, saws, hammers you name it we we’ll either have it or be able to find someone who can do it for us.
In the senior school we offer both Achievement Standard assessed courses and Industry Training Organisation Unit Standards. The type of course offered depends on the career path or future direction a student wants to head in.
Classes study in both the workshop and design room with access to the computer labs when necessary.
Graphics courses are offered at levels 1, 2, 3 and scholarship, classes are carried out in the design room with its drawing equipment and a mini computer lab and some access to the workshop for model making.
