Rachael Gardiner - Careers Advisor, History
Staff Representative on the Parents and Friends' Association
I have a strong professional interest in engaging our senior English and history students, and helping them prepare for the transition to tertiary study. I believe character education must sit alongside academic education to ensure success outside of school. I work towards helping students to understand themselves and the opportunities available to them through careers and transition education.
In January 2017 I travelled to Jerusalem in Israel to attend a teachers' conference at Yad Vashem, the centre for Holocaust education and research. The purpose of this professional development is to network with teachers who are dedicated to teaching the Holocaust with empathy and compassion, and to develop resources in specialised areas.
