"From the Fairways of Glory"

Tuesday 14th May 2024

As the clouds dispersed, leaving behind a cool, overcast sky, the stage was set for an exciting day of golf at the Founders Golf Tournament. On April 12th 2024, amidst the transition from school term's end to the stirring winds of winter, JMC old boys from across the country gathered eagerly to participate in this cherished tradition.

With a resounding shotgun blast, the tournament kicked off, featuring 26 teams of four players each. Among them were McGlashan old boys, each vying for the coveted Founders Cup. After a day filled with skillful shots and friendly competition, Simon Cameron emerged victorious, claiming the title and honour for the coming year.

Special thanks are due to Kerry and Matt MacDonald (Resolution Farm Management)

for their generous support and dedication to making the event a success. Thanks also to the sponsors whose contributions made the tournament even more rewarding for the participants. And of course, gratitude to the Otago Golf Club and its staff for hosting the tournament with warmth and professionalism.

Congratulations to all the winning teams and players, and here's to another successful Founders Golf Tournament next year!

In the midst of the Founders Golf Tournament festivities, we're thrilled to extend a special congratulations to Connor Howes for his remarkable victory in the Otago U19 Age Group Championships. Held at Taieri Lakes Golf Course during the April school holidays, Connor's win is a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication.

As we celebrate Connor's achievement, let's also acknowledge the collective spirit of excellence within our golfing community. It's individuals like Connor, supported by our community, who propel the sport to new heights.

Heartfelt congratulations to Connor on his well-deserved success. Here's to many more victories and memorable moments on the greens!

In March, the Intercollegiate Golf Championships unfolded at Taieri Lakes, where our A team, led by Captain Connor Howes and including Joseph Devereux Kilpatrick and Harvey O'Neill, emerged triumphant. Their victory secures them a spot in the upcoming National Intercollegiate Golf Championships in New Plymouth this October.

Having finished 10th at the nationals last year, this opportunity to compete on the national stage presents a chance to improve upon their previous performance. We offer our heartfelt best wishes to the team as they embark on this journey. With their skill, determination, and the support of our community behind them, we have every confidence in their success.
