It has been a sad week for the McGlashan community following the death of Angus McCutcheon, a leaver from 2017 who died as the result of a medical event in Middlemarch last week.
Angus received immediate expert help from the local Middlemarch emergency services, rescue helicopter and neurological surgeons at Dunedin Hospital but, despite all efforts, he died the following afternoon with his loving family by his side.
Angus had just started a motor mechanic’s apprenticeship at a garage in Mosgiel and was really enjoying the opportunity. Right from a small boy, Angus showed an aptitude for all things mechanical and developed a love of cars and engines. He was well on the way to the next stage of his life.
The College was strongly represented at Angus’ funeral in Middlemarch yesterday with a large group of senior students, recent old boys, parents and staff showing their respect.
Angus was a boarder and was still a frequent visitor to the boarding house this year to see his many friends.
He will be sadly missed.
