The below is Lachlan's Sports Report which he delivered in this weeks assembly.
Good morning everyone,
As the winter sports season gets underway, it’s great to see so many of you getting involved. Well done to all those who have signed up for a winter sport, and we wish you all the very best for the upcoming season.
We’d now like to recognise some outstanding achievements in swimming. At the Otago Primary School Swimming Championships, Alex B, Harry B, Ray Z, and Dylan W competed against some of the strongest swimmers in the region and produced excellent results.
Across the meet, all four boys showed great consistency, with every race resulting in a podium finish. Alex, Dylan, and Ray were particularly dominant in their age group, regularly filling the top three placings across their individual events.
Individually, Dylan placed third in the 50m freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. Alex placed second in both the 50m freestyle and breaststroke, while Ray claimed first place in the 50m backstroke.
The relay events were a highlight. The team placed second in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay, and in a nail-biting finish, won the 4 x 50m medley relay by less than a second against Mt Aspiring.
These results reflect not only individual ability, but also strong teamwork and commitment. Congratulations to all four swimmers - we are very proud of your efforts.
We also celebrate an exceptional achievement in cycling. Oscar C has been working incredibly hard across multiple disciplines, and his efforts have paid off at the South Island MTB Championships.
Oscar competed in Enduro, Downhill, Cross Country, and the Team Relay, and achieved an outstanding result - placing 3rd overall in the Under 20 category and earning a bronze medal.
This is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to Oscar’s hard work, dedication, and discipline. He truly exemplifies our school value of excellence.
Please join me in congratulating Oscar on his success.
Thank you.
