Last week, our year 12 students were lucky enough to get away to our second campus in Te Anau for a few days of focussed photography training with Mr Bryn Jones and Rev. Barry Kelk!
I admit I was a bit jealous that I couldn't make it down to our second campus, Te Anau Downs - Fiordland National Park Lodge last week - it's a beautiful part of the country and we're very lucky to have such an amazing setting for teaching our students!
But the boys were in great hands with Mr. Jones and Rev. Kelk, who immersed them in their years of experience with photography and art in general over the course of the three-day trip. And the method definitely gets results! Just take a look at some of these early shots from our year 12s:
First up is Ben Eckhoff, who captured this amazingly detailed fireplace shot. Beautiful!
Later at night it was time to take advantage of the dark sky with a crack at some astral photography. Jacob Levey and Felix Giminez managed this excellent exposure capturing both sky and road in a single frame (no - it isn't composited!).
The next day it was time to get fishing - and Reid Penwarden's keen eye plucked out this precise moment of motion - awesome timing!
As the sun was setting by the lake, Mac Forde was still hard at work capturing these beautiful tones and a striking silhouette.
I'm looking forward to seeing many more awesome photos to come as the boys take their time to reflect and edit!
We'll share more of the photography from this trip as we work towards our annual exhibition in the Edgar Learning Centre in Term 3.
