The Jonnies Quad (U14) team had a tournament to remember, showing determination, teamwork, and some outstanding rugby across their three matches.
They kicked things off in style with a commanding 24–5 win over Kings. Even a lightning delay couldn’t dampen their energy! The boys ran in four tries through Harry H, Lauchy S, Forbes M and Mayson K, with conversions added by Mackley A and Billy A. It was the perfect start to the campaign.
The second game proved to be a much tougher contest against a strong Otago Boys' side. JMC battled hard right until the final whistle but were narrowly beaten 12–17. Tries came from Harry R and Forbes M, while George D added the extra points. Despite the loss, the boys showed real grit and refused to back down.
The final match was a showcase of what this team is capable of. Taking on Southland Boys', JMC produced an exciting all-round performance to win
36–17. The attack was electric, with Moss W running in a superb hat-trick, backed up by two tries from Mayson K and one from Billy A. Conversions came from Fletcher K (2) and George D (1).
At the end of the tournament, the team proudly finished 2nd overall out of four schools, with standout player Forbes M being named MVP for McGlashan.
What made this tournament special wasn’t just the results, but the way the boys played — tackling fearlessly against much bigger opposition, showing determination in every contest, and producing moments of real flair and skill. It was a fantastic effort from the whole squad and a sign of great things to come in the future.
