Our students in the arts have been working hard these past weeks, with a few large events being successfully ticked off, and many more on the horizon. Here is a snapshot of some of what they've been up to.

Big Sing

Our school choir the “McGlashan Maestros” competed in the annual Otago Regional Big Sing inter-school choral festival on Monday 12th June at the Town Hall. They spent the past term preparing three pieces: crowd-favourite "The Turn Off Your Phone Song", "Omnia Vincit Amor", and the specially arranged "Te Ara" waiata. Conductor Ms Amelia Mah was joined by accompanist Mr Roland Storm as well as our very own Rylan Urquhart. The boys did an amazing job and are now prepping for more performances and some growth in the group.

Ōtepoti Secondary Improv Club (ŌSIC)

Every Monday evening the ŌSIC has been meeting at Te Whare o Rukutia down on Princes St. Students from John McGlashan and others from secondary schools around Dunedin have been getting tutorage from expert improviser Dan Allen, and are working towards a performance soon!

Be sure to check out the articles in this issue of the Pilkington Press on our visiting artists in residence, and the Ngā Manu Kōrero regional competition!

Our students are also working hard in their classes towards their prospective assessments, performances and folios. We are all looking forward to see the result of all their mahi.
