We want our students to feel that McGlashan is their turangawaewae (their place to stand), in their time here, but also when they finish their journey and go out into the world.
That connection transcends time. We apply this to all Collegians, those in the past, the students now, and the Collegians to come. For them, this is their turangawaewae, too. Reconnecting Old Collegians with John McGlashan College and strengthening those relationships is a strategic focus for us going forward.
To that end, we’ve organised a series of alumni engagement events this year. We were humbled by the turnout in Auckland in March, and enjoyed the event in Melbourne in May.
On 4 July, we are excited to meet with Old Collegians at The Coach Makers Arms in Marylebone, London. If you know any Old Collegians living in London, please spread the word. This is an opportunity to meet our Principal, Dr Aaron Columbus, and reconnect with their school.
Kia whakatōmuri te haere whakamua - I walk backwards into the future, eyes on the past.
