Tēnā koutou,

Last night’s Fashion at McGlashan event was a resounding success. This event was the major fundraiser for John McGlashan Arts and showcased local high fashion alongside an Upcycled Couture competition. Guests were entertained by our very own talented JMC musicians and the event was hosted by Melanie Kerr.  A heartfelt thank you to all the students, staff, parents and caregivers who volunteered their time, whether as models, musicians, front-of-house personnel, or raffle sellers.

In Tournament Week news, our sports teams are performing exceptionally well. In Hockey the First XI is in the play-off with OB's for 21st and 22nd positions; and the Second XI will be playing off for 7th and 8th positions today.  In Football, the First XI finished 14th amidst tough competition.  Our Under 15 Rugby made the semi-finals and played St Peter's earlier today. While the result didn't go their way, they fought hard until the end and will be playing off for 3rd and 4th position tomorrow. In Basketball, our Junior team won the SISS B grade with 52 teams total in the competition; and our seniors won 1, lost 1.  In Ice Hockey, the combined JMC and OB's Blue team placed 4th in B Grade, and White also placed 4th against two strong Wakatipu teams.

Our Kapa Haka group will be heading to Polyfest next Tuesday. We eagerly anticipate seeing their upgraded uniforms, which include the Piupiu (flax skirts) with new designs and airbrush painting by Mr. Beazley, as well as the Tā Moko and updated Tātua.

Bandquest will take place this weekend. This will be the first major music competition for our Year 7 and 8 students, we wish them all the best for this exciting opportunity!

Kā mihi,

John Veitch
