Year 9 Cricketers qualify for Nationals

Sunday 4th December 2022

A great recent result in Cricket and whilst most boys head off for the holidays, we still have a number of events happening locally and nationally.

Congratulations to our Year 9 Cricket team who beat Otago Boys' High School on a sodden Littlebourne pitch to qualify as the Otago representative to compete against 5 other regions in March 2023 in Palmerston North.

Well done to year 7 boy Hugo Beeby who won the recent Otago Primary Schools Individual Triathlon in Owaka, and the team of Hamish Casey, Hugo Jury, and Toby O'Neill who came second in the Year 8 team event.

At the Otago primary Schools Athletics Champs Max Nation won the Over 13 Boys Long Jump and came 3rd in the Discus.

Otago Secondary School Athletic Champs were held recently .

U14 (Alex Walker, Zac Cunningham, Ed Ferro & Louie Rouvi) won the 4X100m . Alex won the U14 Shot and Discus, 3rd in 100m, and 2nd in 200m. Zac won the U14 Long jump and 3rd in the High Jump. Millar McElrea  was 3rd in the senior  200 and 400m. Will Harrex was 2nd in U14 1500m and 3000m. Charlie Light was 1st in U16 1500m and 3000m

After a good start to their campaign and going through the pool unbeaten our Junior A Volleyball team lost their semi final against SATC in the South Island Volleyball Division 2 Championships in Nelson.

Seth Clearwater-Blunt and Cooper Robertson were both part of the Otago Orcas who were Gold Medal Champions at the U12 Olympic Hopefuls Waterpolo tournament in Auckland recently.

Good luck to our Senior A Touch team who are heading to Rotorua for New Zealand Schools Touch Nationals in which will be the last time playing in McGlashan colours for as number of the boys. Good luck also to brothers Seb and Ed Ferro who are in the sprint events at the Secondary Schools National Athletics Championships in Inglewood.

Our Rowers are heading to Twizel to compete in the Otago Rowing Championships this coming weekend after hitting the water hard in training this term. We appreciate all the hard work and early morning starts from coaches Dylan Davis and Millie Davenport.

Good luck to Fergus Millar and Lochie Ing-Aram, who have been selected for the Southern U15 Futsal team who are travelling to Wellington for a tournament.

A huge thank you to all those from our community who have helped coach, manage, transport and support our boys when playing sport this year.

To help with planning for next year if you are able to help out with sports in any capacity it would be appreciated if you could please fill in the following form.
