Not every school in NZ has a library as well supported as ours!

You may have seen on the news recently that the School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (SLANZA) is running a national campaign focused on increasing public awareness of school libraries and the critical role they play in transforming lives and school communities. In some NZ schools, the library has been repurposed, leaving many without a library, or a librarian. We want to remind everyone that school libraries are an indispensable resource which transforms people's lives and the communities they serve. SLANZA believes that all school students in New Zealand should have access to effective school library services that will support their reading and learning.

The Library at John McGlashan College is very fortunate to be well supported by its Board of Trustees, staff and school community but we feel that this is an issue of national importance critical to the wellbeing of our nation's children.

To find out how you can help us support this campaign please visit SLANZA's School Libraries Transform website and sign the petition. We really value the support you give our library so please add your voice to this worthy campaign.

Many thanks, Pam, Carole and Ruth
