Term 3 has been a busy and exciting one for our Year 7–8 boys, full of sport, competition, and plenty of school spirit!
Year 7–8
We kicked things off with our sports interchanges against Balmacewen, where the boys competed across rugby, basketball, football, hockey, and chess. What impressed us most was the determination shown by many boys who played more than one sport on the day, turning up with strong numbers and proudly representing JMC. They gave their all, showing teamwork and excellent sportsmanship, whether it was on the field, the court, or the chessboard.
Trinity Rugby Exchange
The boys also faced Trinity in rugby, coming up against a very strong side. Despite the challenge, they fought hard and put in a determined performance. A big thank you to Andrew Hore for his coaching and support of the team.
O'Mathalon
On Thursday, 21st August, we had the O’Mathalon at Edgar Stadium, where numbers took centre stage! We entered two Year 7 teams and two Year 8 teams into the competition, which involved a runner dashing 2km back and forth to deliver answers. After a tense 30 minutes, results were announced – and we are thrilled to congratulate our Year 7 team for placing 2nd and our Year 8 team for also placing 2nd. A fantastic achievement and a true reflection of their effort and teamwork.

Monday night Basketball
Winter sports have also been a highlight, with the Year 7–8 basketball season wrapping up this week. It’s been a fiercely competitive season with plenty of close games, some even going into extra time! We want to extend a huge thank you to our coaches who are in Years 10-13, who have dedicated their time and energy to both practices and games:
JMC 8A – Ryley Matheson & Luke Miller
JMC Gold – Mac Forde & Jayden Toro
JMC Red – Hayden Philips & Stephen La
JMC Blue – Angus Hollows & Ben Garner
JMC White – Brodie Miller, Tom Anderson & Jacob Levy
Your guidance has been invaluable, and the boys have grown enormously thanks to your leadership. Congratulations to all teams on some fabulous results!
Also, a big shout out to the managers, parents and supporters who are there every week on the sideline.
It’s safe to say Term 3 has been action-packed, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way our boys have competed, supported each other, and represented JMC with pride.
