Year 9 student, Max, enjoyed success across multiple categories at SongFest 2025
Max competed in the SongFest 2025 competition last weekend and picked up several wins across various categories.
On Friday night he sang Welcome Home by Dave Dobbyn accompanied by John McGlashan guitar teacher John Tutaki - winning the NZ composer song performance for his age.
On Saturday he won multiple categories for his age group including Pop Song, Sacred Song, and Vocal Solo. He also achieved 2nd in Folk/National Song and Song in Character. He won the age group scholarship prize with total aggregated points across Sacred, Folk and Vocal solo (classical), and on Sunday he was rated Highly Commended for his musical theatre 1970-today song.
For the end of competition results, he was awarded a special cup from the competition for Most Promising Stage Presence.
Max also had tap dance competitions last weekend, winning the Song and Dance Category in Achiever level on Friday night.
