As Term 2 comes to an end, there’s still plenty to celebrate - especially when it comes to some impressive sporting achievements from our students. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge their efforts and successes.

Bowls

First up - Jake Potaki-Tagg. Jake continues to impress out on the greens. Earlier this month, at just 15 years old, he made it to the semifinals of the PBA -a huge accomplishment, especially considering he took down some of the top senior players along the way. He's already been named in the Otago Under-30 team to take on Canterbury in July, and he’s just been selected for the South Island Māori team—one of only four players picked from the entire South Island for a national competition in Hamilton this August.
Even more impressive - Jake becomes the first Māori representative in Kaikorai Bowling Club’s history, earning a place on their Honours Board. Outstanding work, Jake. We’re incredibly proud of you!

Swimming

Last Sunday, Tarn Elder (Year 9) and Hugo Beeby (Year 10) competed at the Otago Secondary School Swimming Champs in the 14-and-under category.

Tarn swam four events, placing as high as 6th in the 100m breaststroke, and achieved two personal bests - including an impressive 16-second PB.

Hugo had a standout meet, where he achieved three personal bests, winning 4 events across the comp and delivered an extraordinary performance by breaking four Otago Secondary School records. His most impressive feat was in the 200m breaststroke, where he shattered the existing record by a remarkable eight seconds - a truly outstanding achievement. Fantastic work, boys!

Tanner Cup – Hockey

Our Under-15 Hockey team heads to Hamilton this weekend to compete in the Tanner Cup Tournament, taking on some of the top hockey schools in the country. Best of luck, boys - we’ll be backing you all the way.

Finally, a quick reminder:
