James Burchell wins prestigious ballet scholarship.
At McGlashan, most people know Year 13 student James Burchell as our Head Librarian, but they may not know that he is also an extremely talented dancer.
James recently competed at national level winning a month-long scholarship to Vitacca Vocational School of Dance in Houston, Texas, the top-ranked ballet school in the United States. James plans to study at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington next year and has big dreams of one day dancing for the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company.
To celebrate this awesome achievement, some of James's friends threw him a surprise party in the library and gave him a hat suitable for the occasion.
Congratulations James, we know you will make the most of this fantastic opportunity and we can't wait to see you bring your vibrant personality to the stage in the future.
