This term we welcome Carolina into the German classes.

Hi everyone,

My name is Carolina and I am the German Language Assistant this year. I come from Augsburg, a historic city in the heart of Bavaria and one of the oldest cities in Germany.

I grew up near the mountains, so I have always loved skiing and hiking. The village I grew up in is still very traditional: we wear Dirndl and Lederhosen for many occasions, perform traditional dances such as the Schuhplattler, and celebrate a variety of customs (some of which might seem a bit unusual) - so I might fulfill some clichés that you have in mind about germans!

Unfortunately I have to disappoint any football fans - I can‘t answer any questions about Bayern München (but of course it‘s the best club).

I am passionate about learning and teaching languages, which is why I chose to study French and English to become a teacher. I’m very excited to be here at John McGlashan College and to share my culture and enthusiasm for language learning with the students. At the same time, I hope to learn a great deal myself, improve my English, and experience New Zealand’s school system and culture.
I’m also looking forward to exploring as much of the beautiful South Island as I can during my time here and going on lots of hikes along the way!
