Jemaine and Shai were recognised at the Otago Polytechnic Vaka Moana awards ceremony this week
Jemaine W, our senior recipient for 2025, receives a three-year fully funded scholarship to study at the Otago Polytechnic which is a huge honour.
Jemaine is intending on studying Culinary Arts at the Polytech in 2026. This is on the back of his success competing nationally in the NZ Culinary Arts competition earlier this year.
Shai L is in year 9 and is a great all-round student - doing very well in his academic learning and getting involved in Junior 1st XI football, futsal, and cricket.
The Otago Polytechnic offers Vaka Moana Secondary School Award Scholarships to Pasifika students in Dunedin secondary schools.
Recognition of Achievement: They are given in recognition of the student's achievement and commitment to both the school and their Pasifika community.
Pathway to Study: The scholarship is an opportunity for Pasifika students to receive support for their future study at Otago Polytechnic.
