Welcome to this week's edition of the John McGlashan Pilkington Press.

Tēnā koutou,

The weeks just keep flashing by here at John McGlashan College. This week is Languages Week where we have had a range of activities for the boys to get involved with to celebrate different cultures around the world.

As mentioned last week, our new JMC Health Hub is now live on our College website. We strongly encourage parents to have a look at this as it’s a great resource to help start meaningful and positive conversations with your sons.

Congratulations to our classical musicians who competed in the CMNZ Chamber Music competition last week. A special mention of Htin Bhone, Theo, Freddy and Joshua who received highly commended awards from the judges for their performances.

This Sunday marks a major event on the cultural calendar: Te Hautoka 2025, the top Kapa Haka competition for secondary schools in the South Island. Our boys are performing as part of Te Tira Haere o te Hāhi, a combined rōpū with Columba College. Tuesday’s rehearsal sounded amazing, and we’re excited for their performance. Come along to support them at the Edgar Centre, they will be on stage third in the afternoon session, starting at 12:20pm. Entry is $10. Kia kaha to the boys (and girls). You will find further details and the full schedule attached below.

Lastly, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the Annual JMC Sports Dinner tonight - don't forget to take a look at what's on offer in our auctions. We’ll make sure the Chapel is nice and warm for our guests. We hope you have a fantastic evening!

Kā mihi,

John Veitch
