Australian Students Discover the Magic of Fiordland

Monday 22nd June 2026

Away from the city lights of Melbourne, students from Haileybury School were treated to a breathtaking display of stars over Te Kūwaha Mātauraka.

We’ve just farewelled two groups from Haileybury in Melbourne. Haileybury is one of Australia’s leading private schools, with campuses in Keysborough, Brighton East, Berwick, Melbourne’s CBD, Darwin, and an online campus, Haileybury Pangea.

Students from across all campuses have the opportunity to choose from a range of educational trips, and these groups chose New Zealand. During their stay, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with them playing disc golf and stargazing. They were absolutely blown away by our campus and the incredible environment we have right on our doorstep.

One thing they particularly enjoyed was being able to wander through the bush and paddle on the lake without worrying about being bitten by a snake or eaten by a crocodile! Their enthusiasm and appreciation really made me reflect on just how lucky we are to call this place home.

Their departure also marks the end of our group season for the next couple of months. It’s a welcome opportunity to take a step back, reflect on what went well, and focus on improving the campus before welcoming our next groups back in September.

We’d like to thank the students and staff from Haileybury for staying with us and wish them all the best for the remainder of the year. We hope to see them back in Fiordland again soon.
