2025 will be an exciting and significant year in the history of John McGlashan College.

Tēnā koutou,

My name is Geoff Burns and I would like to introduce myself as the new presiding member of the John McGlashan College School Board.

Those of you who know Kyle Murdoch, the immediate past board chair, you may know already Kyle resigned as the presiding member at last week's College School Board meeting, but will remain on the board as a serving member for a few months more. In July the Murdochs will be leaving New Zealand, embarking on exciting new adventures offshore.

Kyle has been a fantastic presiding member since October 2022, and prior to that serving on the Board of Proprietors. His personable, yet thoroughly professional, manner provided an atmosphere of solid leadership and informed decision making within the board. Thank you Kyle, for your service and you will not be allowed to leave NZ without a more social send-off.

My involvement with the Board began as a parent representative, being voted on in late 2022. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a parent rep, stepping through the various challenges while learning every day. I am also very fortunate to be surrounded by highly skilled and engaged board members. I can not overstate how fortunate John McGlashan is to have such committed and knowledgeable people sitting as Proprietors and Trustees.

With the formal opening of the amazing JMC second campus at Te Anau last weekend and recruiting work being underway for our new principal, 2025 will be an exciting and significant year in the history of John McGlashan College.

Go well, and I look forward to getting to know more of you soon.
