Year 13s have a day of leadership, communication and team building at Tirohanga Camp.

Working together...
Working together...

I want to instil in our Year 13 group that this is a very important year for them, that they are all leaders and role models and that this is the year to push to leave a positive impression, make a contribution and work hard. So to start the year well, we spent a full, busy and fun day setting the scene.

After a goal setting task their team building, communication, problem-solving, trust and cooperation were tested with a series of challenges in which they did exceptionally well.

We hugely appreciated having Otago rugby player Luke Whitelock come out to talk about his career, goal setting and offer his advice.

Above all the day highlighted what amazing young men they are. The way they worked together, looked after each other, contributed and made the most of everything with the right energy and attitudes, makes me excited about the year ahead. If they can maintain and build upon how they have started then the Year 13 class of 2017 are going to have a great year.

Building marshmallow towers... the marshmallows did not last long!
