Library Week at John McGlashan College

Thursday 7th August 2025

From Monday 4th until Friday 8th August we celebrated Aotearoa School Library Week with an entire week of book-ish fun and activities for everyone.

The week began with a very popular Reading Cafe in the library classroom on Monday. Students brought along their lunch and a book to read, and the library staff provided hot chocolates and biscuits. It was fantastic to see so many boys enjoying a lunchtime read!

On Tuesday we began a scavenger hunt in the library, with ghostly clues to help solve the riddle.

Students could Get Caught Reading in the library on Wednesday to get a sweet treat, and on Thursday everyone who issued one (or more!) books received a chocolate fish. This was super popular, with 189 students borrowing over 240 books!

To close out the week, we held a library quiz on Friday which was lots of noisy fun.

Congratulations to Henry in 10SMN for winning the scavenger hunt lucky prize draw and to Henry in 8RMI for winning the 'book in a jar' lucky prize draw.

And well done to Sam in 7LMA who recently completed his student librarian training and received his library badge on Friday. We are very pleased to have you join the library team!
