Congratulations to the band, who pulled off a brilliant recording of their songs in the JMC Music Department.
As part of the next stage for SmokeFree RockQuest, Otago Regional winners 'Deaf Raccoon were tasked with recording three songs live and submitting a video of the recording for the national stage of the competition.

The students played like absolute pros, nailing some brilliant live recordings of their songs in just a couple of takes each. Anyone who's tried recording before will know that's a difficult feat even for an experienced adult band!
Thanks to our own Mr McNulty (HOD Music) for some incredible mahi on the recording, mixing and mastering - we're very grateful to have such an awesome recording setup on offer in our own JMC Music Department rooms.
From here, the recording will be judged by a panel of industry professionals before the Top 35 semi-finalists are announced. The semi-finalists from Stage 3 are then re-viewed/re-assessed and re-judged by a new panel of industry heavyweights.
From this stage, the top acts are chosen as the National Finalists. We're crossing all our fingers and toes for the announcement in early August!
