While the grass has stopped growing and winter has arrived in Fiordland, things at the lodge are still as busy as ever.
I sat back as I wrote this and realised this was my first article for Term 2, how slack of me. Don’t worry though, we have been just as busy.
This term we have hosted McGlashan PE and Geography camps, along with groups from Wakatipu, Mt Aspiring, and a tramping group from Queenstown. In the past, things have usually started to quieten down at this time of year, but the next few weeks are still full of bookings, which I’m very happy about.
The lawns no longer need mowing, but our policies and procedures certainly need updating, and that seems to have become my go-to rainy day activity.
Next week, we have camps from Tokomairiro High School, Cromwell College and the Year 12 Outdoor Ed crew.
If you are a McGlashan family who would like to come and stay with us, please get in touch. While winter might be cooler, it is often the most settled time of year up here, with very little rain or wind. Crisp mornings, clear days, and snow on the mountains make Fiordland a pretty special place to visit at this time of year.
