Timaru Boys' Summer Sports Exchange

Wednesday 11th March 2026

A fantastic day of sport at the Summer Sports Exchange. Big thanks to Timaru Boys’ High School for being such great hosts.

Our boys represented John McGlashan College with pride at the annual exchange with Timaru Boys’, finishing the day with four wins, three losses and one draw.

McGlashan victories came in Colts Cricket, Junior Touch, Senior Volleyball and Tennis, while Golf finished in a draw. Timaru were too strong in 1st XI Cricket, 2nd XI Cricket and Senior Touch.

There were plenty of highlights across the day. In the 1st XI Cricket, Cohen took four wickets, while Charlie and Fred both contributed 30-plus runs in a solid performance. The Timaru hosts also put on an outstanding feed for the boys.

The 2nd XI Cricket match was a close contest, with newly promoted coach Mr Morrison praising the boys for the way they played and competed. The Colts Cricket team had a big win. Connor produced an outstanding spell taking five wickets, including a hat-trick, and also held a catch. Moss added important runs with a strong innings of 40-plus.

Our Junior Touch team performed very well and showed great energy throughout their matches.

In Volleyball, it was great to see Lachie stepping up and coaching, doing an excellent job of including and supporting younger players.

The Golf match finished in a draw, with a special moment when the Timaru coach made a point of coming over to say how marvellous Josh Woods had been throughout the day.

All of our Tennis boys played strongly. A special thank you to Lizanne for doing an outstanding job running the competition and looking after our boys.

Thank you to the staff and parents who helped make the exchange happen and supported the boys throughout the day.
