JMC Hockey takes on Timaru Boys

Sunday 11th August 2024

On Sunday, 11th August, the 1st XI and U15A travelled to Oamaru to challenge themselves against the Timaru Boys teams.

Due to the cancelled Timaru Boys sports exchange late last term, we missed the opportunity for these two capable hockey schools to meet for their annual challenge.

The U15A team took to the turf first and set up for a great day of play. The eventual score was 3-1 to McGlashan, with goals to Max Nation, Lewis Marr, and Blaine Dillion.

The 1st XI had some work to do and with injury and illness there were a few called up from the 2nds and the U15s. Ultimately, the final score was 3-1 to Timaru Boys with a McGlashan goal to Sam Lawson as he deflected home a slick penalty corner, receiving a lovely Jock Duncan slice pass.

The trip north served as excellent preparation for Rankin Cup for the 1st XI and was another opportunity for the U15s to keep refining their skills. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
