Welcome family, friends and John McGlashan College cricketers, as we find ourselves well into another exciting cricket season, although the rain has been having the last word on a number of occasions thus far.

First up though, and on behalf of the McGlashan Cricket  Committee, I would to acknowledge and thank Kevin Gallivan (Gully) for his commitment and contribution as the 1st XI coach during the past three seasons. We wish Gully well as he takes on new initiatives in the future.

While our boys have been enjoying their winter sports, the John McGlashan Cricket Committee has been busy planning and implementing some exciting and significant changes to our cricketing program. These changes align with our vision to provide an infrastructure that allows all of our young cricketers, across all grades, access to quality coaching and ongoing development in an enjoyable, structured and engaging environment.

In support of our vision, I would like to introduce you all to Travis Muller, our new technical coach. Travis comes to us from South Africa, having played 43 first-class matches while also representing South Africa at Under 19 level. Travis’ main role is to provide technical and development coaching for all of our players during their weekly scheduled training sessions. Travis also provides welcome support for all of our team coaches.

Finally, a number of regular events are on the cards again for this year and next including the Queenstown Tournament in January and a proposed Australian tour in October next year. Both events will provide opportunities for the development of younger up-and-coming players. Watch this space!

Enjoy the season and many thanks again to the parents, coaches and managers who give of their time voluntarily to make it all happen.

Garfield Hatton, Chairman
JMC Cricket Committee.
