South Island Secondary Schools Athletic Champs in Invercargill, John McGlashan, had four boys competing. Seb Ferro won gold in the Senior 100m and bronze 200m, Alex Walker won silver in the U14 100m, broke the old record, 200m and Shot, and Millar McElrea won silver in the Senior 400m.

South Island Secondary Schools MTB's three-day competition was delayed one day due to snow. Eight McGlashan Boys competed, with Josh Grieve 3rd in the U17 Cross Country and Connor Bond 8th out of 50 in the U15 downhill.

Angus Loe, Matt O'Meara, Ollie Hamilton, Charlie Carran and Aiden Seyb Win Bronze in the U17 Quad and Angus and Matt came 2nd in the U17 Double at Maadi Nationals. Thank you to our magic coaches, Dylan Davis and Millie Davenport, for all the long and early hours. 113 Schools, 2087 competitors and 351 coaches at this year's 76th running of the Maadi Cup.

A team of eight year 7 and 8 boys represented JMC at the Otago Primary School Swimming Champs. It was a very busy competition, with over 300 swimmers participating. The boys achieved some outstanding results both individually and as a team.Of the 18 individual races swum by the boys, 12 of these were personal bests.Some stand-out results were:Ropati Kohlhase (11 boys) 1st 50m Breaststroke, 4th 50m FreestyleHugo Beeby (12 boys) 2nd 50m Freestyle, 2nd 50m Breaststroke, 4th 50m BackstrokeTarn Elder (10 boys) 4th 50m BreaststrokeRuan Hamman (12 boys) 5th 50m Freestyle, 6th 50m BackstrokeJack McGrath (11 boys) 5th 50m BackstrokeFour of the boys joined up to make a relay team and entered the 12 and over age group - Ruan Hamman (12), Jack McGrath (11), Ropati Kohlhase (11)and Hugo Beeby (12). These boys finished 3rd place in both the Freestyle relay and Medley relay. 


Quinn Coutts was selected as part of a four-member team representing New Zealand at the Inter-Pacific Exchange. The international show jumping event was hosted in New Zealand by NZPCA during January. New Zealand hosted team riders (aged 17-25) from Canada, Australia, the United States and Hong Kong. They spent three weeks travelling through the South Island and competing on borrowed horses.


New Zealand Under 18 Men’s Ice Hockey team winning gold at the 2023 IIHF Division 3, Group B event in Cape Town, South Africa. The team includes three McGlashan boys - Jack Lewis, Max Simpson and Oliver Bary.
