John McGlashan was placed a very competitive third and fifth.
The intermediate team of Gary Yao, John Mengel, Sheon Luxmanan and Jack Murphy gained 3rd place in a very tough competiton in Ashburton last week.
The secondary team of Martin Brook, Fraser Reynolds, Krishan Luxmanan and Caleb Oakley came 5th. A big thanks goes to the parents who travelled with the boys, Roger Oakley and Roy, Gary's Dad and Matt Mengel.
The next chess challenge is the fete challenge on the 23rd September, then the Christchurch nationals on the 29th and 30th September for the intermediate team.
