Ski trip, Doubtful Sound overnight cruise, senior formal, end of year dinner at Etruso, international socials and BBQ's have been some of the social highlights this year.
As an international student who has been studying here at John McGlashan College for five years, myself Jiro Chen, the 2017 International Prefect, I have really enjoyed the time at this school. Five years of time here at John McGlashan have completely changed me from a boy who literally could not speak any English to a young man that has become a school prefect.
Unlike any other Kiwi boy, I have gone through every event that a normal Kiwi boy would at John McGlashan and the activities that are organized by the international department. Those activities are the most memorable part of my overseas school life at John McGlashan. Such as the international socials, and the trip to Doubtful Sound. All of those trips and socials only take an afternoon or a few days to participate in, but the memory of that would be always with us.
Being part of the school I can clearly see why the number of international boys has sharply increased over the past few years. It is just simply because of the time and effort that the international department is willing to spend on us.
People often say John McGlashan College is a good high school with high-quality school facilities, but personally, I would definitely talk about the great teachers who have supported us through the time of learning. I will always appreciate the international department’s support especially the ESOL teacher and International Dean, Mr Mountain.
