Fish, rain and the beauty of the lake

Year 8 boys survive camp and bring home some awesome stories.

As Year 8 camp draws to a close, it’s clear that the boys have had an unforgettable experience. Activities such as fishing, survival skills, and walking were among the many highlights that kept the boys engaged and excited throughout their time at camp.

The weather for the first part of the camp was ideal, providing perfect conditions for a memorable hike to Lake Marian. However, on Thursday, the weather shifted, bringing rain and low cloud cover. This change in conditions only reinforced the essence of the camp—challenging the boys to step out of their comfort zones and adapt to whatever nature presents.

Despite the rain and cloud, the boys made the most of the situation, enjoying some excellent fishing. Several fish were caught, and later cooked over the campfire, alongside baked potatoes—offering a warm and satisfying meal.

Next week, we look forward to welcoming our Geography crew to the camp, followed by Southland Girls, who will make this site their home for a few days.
