The Hound of the Baskervilles

The senior drama class were treated to a fabulous farcical feast this term when they went to see The Hound of the Baskervilles at the Fortune Theatre. Hound is the most popular Arthur Conan Doyle story in the Sherlock Holmes adventures, and this certainly did not disappoint.

The production was a slapstick comedy spoof and was full of laughter, suspense, and lightning fast costume changes. Some students enjoyed it so much they went back to see it twice, which is also useful as students are writing about this production in their external NCEA exam at the end of the year.

A week after seeing the show, students were treated to a Q&A session with Director and actor Patrick Davies, and actors Nick Dunbar and Simon Leary. Students were also lead through several voice and physical movement exercises by the actors. There are some short videos from this workshop below.

All in all, another very worthwhile, engaging, and rewarding experience for senior drama students. We've been really lucky this year to see a range of amazing, innovative, and thought-provoking shows at the Fortune Theatre.
