On Thursday the Chapel was filled of the silence of a captivated audience as 12 year 9s set about bringing their carefully chosen text to life.
The annual Prepared Reading competition required the boys to select a passage from a text of their choice and 'perform' it to the class.
The focus is on development and practice of speaking skills, growing confidence in public speaking and introducing their peers to different books that might interest them.
Every student presents to their class and then the three most effective speakers are selected to present to the Year group.
This year our judges were Mr Veitch (Assistant Principal and Year 10 Dean) and Jack Tourelle (Year 13 student, Prefect and previous winner of this competition).
The finalists were:
Jamie Copland, Rocco Ferguson, Gus Carr, Alex Zarrabi, Artie Sweetman, Simba Tang, Hugo Beeby, Ruan Hamman, Peter Choi, Cameron Lane, Flynn O'Connell and Toby Ellis.
Final results were:
Highly Commended - Ruan Hamman
3rd Place - Toby Ellis
2nd Place - Peter Choi
1st - Hugo Beeby
