Fête requires a team effort.

With all the hard work going into preparations for the Fête, I think it is only reasonable that we should expect a warm spring day and a huge turnout. The Parents and Friends Association, and especially the fête committee are spending much of their time ferrying goods from the entrance foyer to the containers on the corner patch so keep those donations of goods rolling in. Each year, the Fête provides a large amount of extra funding which is distributed around the school making things significantly better for the boys. Thank you for your support in advance, this is a team effort and any contribution you can make, especially with help on the day, will be invaluable to the college and to the boys.

Congratulations to Spanish teacher Annie Lucas on the safe arrival of a daughter Sara Anne Lucas. Sara is an eagerly awaited little sister for her three big brothers Jack, Johnny and Joe. Felicitaciones por el nacimiento de su niña Lucas familia!

We had a day of farewells for Executive Officer Murray Venables’ retirement. A staff morning tea was followed by a board function after school in which many tributes were paid as testimony to Murray’s loyal and dedicated service to the college and gentlemanly dealings with everyone. Go well Murray, we are sure you will enjoy a change of pace and more time to indulge your many interests.

Unfortunately, mathematics teacher Adam Facer will be leaving us at the end of the year to take up a position at Riccarton High School in Christchurch. The boys will certainly miss Adam’s calm, knowledgeable approach in the classroom and his wit and wisdom out of it.

This term has been packed with events from Rock of Ages to the winter sports finals, Tournament Week, RockQuest, the International ski trip, Class Act presentations and Year 8 camp. Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 Tournament of Minds team which won the regional finals in Christchurch last weekend. The boys have been ably coached by Sue Porter and Michele Rodger and now move on to the Nationals in Wellington on September 23rd. Good luck boys, we are proud to have you representing the college.

We are in the midst of IB trial examinations at the moment with NCEA practice examinations following in the first week of Term 4. So boys, work smart and hard over the next few months, challenge yourselves and each other to achieve your best results.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Fête on September 23rd.

Best regards
