What do we celebrate?

I had the great pleasure of attending our Senior Prize Giving recently. It was wonderful to join together and celebrate the effort hard work and success of so many students.

It caused me to reflect on celebration - what it says about us as a community (and as individuals). That which we celebrate really shows what we value. I especially enjoy the variety of awards we have - Citizenship, Tuakana, Special Character, Academic, Sports, Sportsmanship and more!

These ideas of celebrating that which is important remind me of a story we have been studying with my Year 7 Christian Studies class. God's rescue of his people from slavery in Egypt. Immediately afterwards they are given instructions on how to celebrate and remember what had occurred. As it was such an important part of their story.

As we as a community deal with a number of changes - staff leadership and I am sure many more in individuals lives lets work together to celebrate and keep that which is most important to us. As a school with a Presbyterian special character we strive to live in a way that would glorify God. To love support and seek the best for one another - despite our differences. To strive to make the most of the many opportunities and talents we have been blessed with here.

Lets make sure we keep celebrating with one another when we see that happening!
