This is an exciting appointment as it acknowledges the important role that Old Collegians of McGlashan have always played, and will continue to play, in the life of the College. In this role John will work alongside Kirstyn Mawdsley, the Director of Marketing and Development, and the OCA to maximise engagement with our key stakeholders – one of which are the Old Boys.

John ‘retired’ last year after 30 years teaching Marketing in the Department of Marketing at the University of Otago. He was responsible for developing the nationally and internationally successful business case competition programme at Otago and for the New Zealand universities. He is still the Chef de Mission for Team Universities of NZ, which competes internationally.

John (#1885) attended the College from 1963 – 1969, and has been on the Board of Trustees (2005 – 2012) and on the Board of Proprietors for almost 25 years, during which time he spearheaded the development of the Edgar Learning Centre.

Obviously a supporter of McGlashan, he is looking forward to building the Alumni programme. He is excited about the redevelopment of the McGlashan website that now has a strong Alumni presence. He is looking forward to hearing from you!

This newsletter is my first one. It is important that all Old Collegians see the newsletter as a platform for sharing stories. The success of the newsletter is dependent on input from Old Collegians. We welcome any stories – funny, achievements or just a good yarn. Don’t let truth get in the way of a good story! Please email stories or tips to alumni@mcglashan.school.nz and feel free to call John on 021 901 747.
