Another year of a very successful 'Rocky' exchange!
This year, for a week in June we had nine boys and seven girls from Rockhampton Grammar fly into Dunedin as part of their Global Education initiative.
The students were billeted and stayed with families at John McGlashan College and Columba College for the week. They attended lessons at the Colleges, and an activity programme was organised for most afternoons. This included a Dunedin City Tour, a Tour of Cadbury's, Kapa Haka Session, a visit to Town, and a day at Naseby; curling, skating, and learning to luge. The group found it to be a little cold on the ice. The students come from 30+ degree heat and the day we travelled to Naseby it didn't get above 3 degrees!
This is the third year that we have hosted the students, and it provides the opportunity for our students to do a return trip during their Year 10 -11 in 2018. We would hope to take a return trip, which would coincide with the mid-year holidays and take in Great Keppel Island, an Aboriginal Dream Time Centre, Mt Hay looking for thunder eggs, Capricornia Caves and many other Australian experiences.
Special thanks to all the families who hosted students this year. Very really appreciate you opening your homes to these students. I also have to thank Nick Price who took the students for the Kapa Haka session.
If you would like your son to be part of the return trip next year, then please get in touch with me via email -bruce@mcglashan.school.nz.
