Our second campus in Te Anau will have its official opening on Saturday 1 March. We invite you all to visit the site between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.
Tēnā koutou,
Welcome to this week’s edition of the John McGlashan Pilkington Press. We hope that the volume of emails from the College has decreased, as we are now consolidating all relevant updates into this weekly newsletter.
Many JMC parents will be eagerly anticipating the release of our first Progress Report this week. As previously communicated, this represents a shift from last year’s schedule, where reports were issued fortnightly. While we are confident that the KAMAR reports being generated today will be accurate, please be aware that, as this is our first time using these reports, there may be minor glitches. If the reports are not entirely flawless, rest assured that we will address any issues and will ensure that future reports are looking right.
During this week's assembly, we had the privilege of hearing from Ed Ferro, who shared his experience of his one-day McGlashan Challenge on the Kepler Track. We also held our first House Meetings of the year, with Year 13 students taking the lead in encouraging their peers to actively participate in the upcoming Athletics Sports and Haka competition this term.
We are eagerly anticipating an exciting Athletics Sports Day next Monday. The school Prefects are encouraging students to dress in their house colours to help create a festive atmosphere, and we hope to see strong support from parents on the day. In the event of postponement, the event will be rescheduled for the next fine day.
Later that same evening, at 7:00pm, we will be hosting the ‘Meet the Form Teacher’ evening. This year, there is a notable change for Year 12-13 parents. Please refer to the article later in this edition for further details about this positive development for our senior school parents.
On Wednesday next week, we will host the first of our traditional Summer Sports Exchanges, welcoming Timaru Boys’ High School to Dunedin for what promises to be exciting competition.
As mentioned last week, our second campus in Te Anau will have its official opening on Saturday 1 March. We invite you to visit the site between 3:00pm and 4:00pm that day if you're in the Fiordland area.
We look forward to seeing you on the sidelines next week or at the Meet the Form Teacher event on Monday evening.
Kā mihi,
John Veitch
Acting Principal
