The pinnacle of all the secondary school cross country events is the National Secondary School Cross Country.

This year this event was held conveniently in Dunedin, meaning we could enter a large number of boys all who performed to a very high standard and represented the school well.

The first boys race of the day was the Year 9 race, in this race we had an outstanding performer in Rhuidari Brosnan, placing a highly commendable 17th place in a large field of boys especially after getting a less than ideal start. In the Junior Boys Race (Under 16) we had another great performance in the way of Ben Mitchell who finished 19th. This result is particularly impressive because of a recent injury struggle which has meant he has been unable to run or train properly.

Arguably the most important event of the day was the Senior Boys Race (Under 19) . As always this race was taken out extremely quickly and met with rousing comfort from the supporters around the course. Oli Chignell managed to claim an incredible 4th placing, only 1 second behind the third place getter, a fantastic achievement.

So all in all the Nationals this year was a very successful time for all boys competing, with the organisers setting out a superb course and event for us to run in.
