Welcome to this week's edition of the John McGlashan Pilkington Press.

Tēnā koutou,

The week started with our Year 7 and 8 Waihi exchange on Sunday. The tournament kicked off with the boys playing touch rugby, followed by cricket and futsal on Monday. The boys put in a great effort against some strong competition. Thank you to all the families who hosted a Waihi billet; this event couldn't have happened without your support and generosity.

On Monday, we welcomed Ichikawa Students from Japan for two weeks, and all the students have settled in nicely with their host families. A big thank you to those families who kindly opened their homes.

On Wednesday morning, we held our annual Haka competition. There were fantastic performances by all the students, and congratulations to Gilray House, who were led to victory by kaea, Glenn Ericsson.

This weekend, the annual Toby Hope Boarding Hunting competition will kick off again. Good luck to all the boys participating; we look forward to seeing the results next week.

We also wish good luck to the boys heading to the South Island Secondary Schools Touch Championships, Maadi Cup and the NZSS Volleyball Nationals this weekend. We are cheering for you all!

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

Kā mihi,

John Veitch
Acting Principal
