My Eyes by Felix Brooking

The first thing I noticed about her wasn’t her face, hair, or even how she looked. It was her eyes. They were this beautiful mix of green and brown, like the leaves kinda, when they’re still on the trees not all brown and dead. They weren’t the kind of eyes that made you want to stare, but once you saw them, it was hard to look away. Every time I looked up at her, it felt like I was seeing something I wasn’t supposed to like. I was catching a glimpse of something inside her that no one else could see.

I was sitting in the corner of the cafe shop, like I always did, trying to get some homework done. But the rain was tapping on the windows and the smell of fresh coffee was everywhere, and I couldn’t focus. I was just zoning out, not paying attention to anything, when she walked in. At first, I didn’t even notice her. I was too busy trying to figure out how to solve this math problem for the thousandth time. But then, she passed by my table and I saw her out of the corner of my eye. She was wearing a hoodie, her hair in a messy bun like she didn’t care what she looked like. And that’s when I saw her eyes.

I didn’t mean to stare, but I couldn't help it. They were so different from anyone else’s. I’m not sure how to explain it, but there was something in her left eye, the one closest to me. It was like it was saying something to me without actually saying it. I felt this weird sensation in my stomach like I was seeing a secret I wasn’t supposed to see.

She didn’t look at me, not at first anyway. She just went up to the counter and ordered a drink, and her voice sounded so normal, like any ordinary person. But every time I glanced up, it was like her eyes were searching for something or someone. It felt like her eyes were looking straight through me, even though I was just some random kid in the corner of the shop.

Eventually, I got up to grab my food. I was trying to act normal, But it was just so hard too. When I reached the counter, I caught her staring at me in the corner of my eye. Though It wasn’t a long stare, it was just a glance, but it felt like she saw something in me, like she knew something about me that I didn’t even know about myself. My face went pink, and I hurriedly looked away, grabbed my food, and went back to my seat in embarrassment. But the whole time I sat there, all I could think about was her and her beautiful eyes.
