Using Ebooks and Audiobooks to Support Reading

Wednesday 5th March 2025

Our ePlatform digital library is a valuable tool for students who require some support with their reading. It offers customisable settings to improve readability and tools to assist with grammar, vocabulary and improved focus.

All readers are unique and have different needs, which is why the library provides a variety of formats for our students. The ebooks in our ePlatform library allow students to customise the text and screen background to suit their preferences. Dyslexia friendly settings can be applied with one click, and most ebooks can be converted into speech and translated into other languages.

Audiobooks are also a great way to experience a book, particularly for reluctant or struggling readers. In many cases, we will also have the print edition in the library, so that students can listen to the audio and follow along in the print version.

There are three different ways students can access our ebooks and audiobooks:

  1. search our library web app for an ebook or audiobook title and click through from there to borrow, and read or listen

    OR

  2. go directly to mcglashan.eplatform.co and sign in with their usual school login, then browse or search for a book

    OR

  3. download the free ePlatform app onto their device, search for John McGlashan College Library, and log in with their usual school login, then find a book to read or listen to.

For more information on how to customise settings, see our Student Guide to Using ePlatform or contact library@mcglashan.school.nz for assistance.
