Why do boys bully each other?

Thursday 17th May 2018

Robert Pereira, (B.A. Dip Ed, M.A. Hons-Fordham, NY), an educational consultant from Australia, visited John McGlashan College during the first week of Term 2.

Robert has worked with primary and secondary students in South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Nepal, Australia and New Zealand.

The boarders were lucky to work with Robert last year and this year the focus was on the Year 7 – 9 boys. All of the classes were fully engaged and the messages that Robert have been backed up by their form teachers and Deans. The aim is to use some of his materials with the Year 10 classes also.

Robert worked with our staff to address the issues pertaining to school bullying, and there was also a Parent night and the parents that attended went home impressed.

Robert did mention that the boys at John McGlashan were quite ‘unique’ in the way they were thoughtful of each other and supported each other in general.

We will hopefully invite Robert back again next year.
