At the recent South Island Secondary School Athletics Championships, John McGlashan College boys had a very successful weekend.
Sixteen of our boys qualified and competed in the recent South Island Secondary School Athletics championships held in Dunedin over the weekend of 31st March – 2nd April. The boys performed extremely well across all their events with ten top three placings achieved.
These were:
Gold:
- Nathan Harrison, High Jump
- Josh Hou, 3000m
- Nico Bowering, both 100m
and 200m
- Dominic Morrison, 800m
- 4 x 100m Relay comprising of Dominic
Morrison, Johnny Baker,
Hamish Brown and Nico Bowering
Silver:
- Josh Hou, 1500m
- Leroy Ferguson, Shot Put
Bronze:
- Nathan Harrison, 800m
- Dominic Morrison, 400m
It was great to see a fantastic support crew of parents, staff members and students spurring the boys on. The next step for these boys is the New Zealand Secondary School Athletics Championships, which will be held at the end of the year up in the Hawkes Bay.
