It's been a busy week in sport with some great sporting achievements, milestones, and the Balmacewen Exchange

Kartsport

Year 9 students Jack and Theo attended Kartsport Canterbury Derby Day. Racing in the Jr Rotax 125 and Jr Briggs LO206 classes, respectively.

Jack came out the gate and was dialed in on the cool track from the first corner. A fantastic day on an evolving track and great driving in a class field with a win in the strong 14 kart field.

Theo was getting to grips with his new kart and only second time on the unfamiliar track in Canterbury. His sights are firmly set on moving from Jr to the more competitive Snr ranks come the 1st of January 2026.

Swimming

Hugo recently attended the NZ Secondary School Swimming Champs in Hamilton. He swam 10 events over 4 days. Hugo had an exceptional meet and achieved personal best times in 7 out of his 10 races. His top placing was 4th in 200m Breaststroke (only .1 sec off getting a bronze medal)

He also placed 7th in both the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events. He is really looking forward to the next competition, which is the NZ Short Course Championships held in Auckland in September. He will get to race alongside Olympians and the top swimmers in NZ in all age groups.

Table Tennis

Thomas has been putting in the hard yards with his table tennis - with training, interclub and club nights five days a week, Thomas is all in. Over the holidays, he was selected for the U15 Otago Team heading to Nationals in Auckland this September. Well done Thomas!

Rugby

The McGlashan 1st XV came out firing with a great first half, but King’s managed to turn it around after the break to finish on top. It was an exciting game to watch, and the boys' played an outstanding match.

Balmacewen Exchange

There was plenty of fun had this week at the Balmacewen exchange from players and supporters! The boys gave it their all and all the games were played in great spirit. A big thanks goes to our coaches and referees - these events couldn't happen without your support!
