Our 84 Year 10 boys had their first opportunity of siting the NCEA Literacy and Numeracy assessments during Week 5 of Term 2. These are the pre-requisite standards for NCEA Level 1.
We were astounded with their results, which were published recently. Our results are below, which can be compared against the National pass rate.
Prerequisite Assessment Title and Standard | PASS Percentage | National Pass Percentage |
Reading (32043) | 87% | 59% |
Writing (32045) | 98% | 55% |
Numeracy (32046) | 95% | 45% |
Most of our boys now have their compulsory 20 credits as they begin their NCEA journey in 2025.
The next session for the boys that still need to achieve these standards is scheduled for Week 9 of this term, during the Senior Exam week. These boys are currently getting some extra support so they can hopefully pass these standards by the end of their Year 10 year. Boys will still have two further opportunities in Year 11 to achieve these three standards if they need to.
