This Term has been a busy one for the Agricultural Science and year 10 Rural Studies boys.

Year 12's boy's recently took on a Chainsaw Safety course, run through Agri-Business. They felled, chopped up and removed a couple of large trees from around the rugby field in a two day practical and theory course. It was an enjoyable chance to learn how to assemble, maintain and safely use a chainsaw, gain a valuable qualification and skills and that it takes a long time to clean up!

Year 11 Ag. went to Min and Lisa Bain's property in Waitahuna, Longridge Stud, to talk genetics and breeding, stock judging, supplementary crops and stud farming. We had an excellent time and were very well looked after and extremely well fed! A BIG 'thank-you' to Min and Lisa Bain for hosting us, organising a great day and sharing your beautiful property... and the amazing food. Tori Hope for driving a van, great baking and heaps of knowledge and Ross Clark at Milton Supervalue for the tasty treats!

Year 10 lads recently went to Norwoods Farm Machinery in Mosgiel to talk maintenance, implements and farm machinery. It was fun to drool over some of the equipment, sit in the tractors, learn about the technology involved and the diesel mechanics industry. Thanks Norwoods!
